Chocolate oatmeal (dessert) in a mug


When I crave a dessert but don’t necessarily feel like cooking, this oatmeal recipe is the perfect solution. It’s incredibly easy to prepare! This recipe combines elements from two beloved classics that remind me of home. My mom often makes cookies using similar ingredients, while my boyfriend’s mom prepares warm oatmeal. My goal was to recreate that comforting feeling in a single serving.

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup old fashioned or quick oats
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe mug, combine the sugar, cocoa, peanut butter, and milk.
  2. Microwave the mixture for 30 seconds. Stir until the peanut butter is fully melted. If necessary, microwave for an additional 10-15 seconds.
  3. Add the oats and mix.
  4. Microwave the mixture for 15 seconds.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips. Enjoy!
